Terms of Service

Effective date: May 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AnswerRank ("the Service"). By installing the AnswerRank Shopify app, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

AnswerRank is a Shopify app that tracks how your products appear in AI shopping answers and surfaces fixes that lift your visibility. The Service includes the embedded Shopify admin UI, the rank-tracking engine, the catalog audit, and the attribution dashboard.

2. Eligibility

You must own or have authorisation to manage the Shopify store on which you install the app. You must be 18+ and able to enter contracts.

3. Plans, billing, trials

  • Free plan: permanent free tier with reduced limits.
  • Paid plans (Starter / Growth / Pro): billed monthly via Shopify's Billing API. All charges, refunds, and proration are handled by Shopify per their merchant agreement.
  • Free trials: 14 days on every paid plan. Trial ends automatically and converts to paid unless you cancel.
  • Cancellation: cancel anytime via Shopify Admin → Apps. Your subscription downgrades to Free at the end of the current billing cycle. We do not delete your data on cancellation — it stays for 30 days in case you re-subscribe.

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or scrape the Service
  • Use the Service to track competitors you don't have a legitimate business interest in
  • Submit prompts designed to evade content policies of OpenAI / Google / Anthropic
  • Resell access to the Service

5. Your content

You retain ownership of your product catalog, prompts, brand names, and all data you submit. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to process that data solely to operate the Service.

6. AI-generated outputs

The Service queries third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic) and surfaces their outputs to you (rank positions, citations, attribute extractions). We do not warrant the accuracy of AI-generated outputs. AI engines can change behaviour without notice, and identical queries can return different answers. Rank positions are directional, not authoritative.

7. Service availability

We target 99.9% monthly uptime for the dashboard. Background rank-check jobs are best-effort and may be delayed or skipped if your daily API spend cap is reached. We may schedule maintenance windows with prior notice.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR MEET YOUR PARTICULAR REQUIREMENTS. SPECIFICALLY, WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY SPECIFIC AI VISIBILITY OUTCOME, REVENUE LIFT, OR RANKING IMPROVEMENT.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

10. Indemnity

You'll defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

11. Changes

We may change these Terms. Material changes will be emailed to your Shopify store owner address. Continued use after notice = acceptance.

12. Termination

You may terminate by uninstalling. We may terminate for breach with reasonable notice. On termination, your data is deleted per the Privacy Policy.
